Ideas Capital Management is an upcoming private equity firm that is currently engaging in a fund raising. Our immediate focus is making ESG investments in South East Asia; particularly in Indonesia. We believe in building sustainable and profitable businesses. We also believe that our investments should benefit environment, communities and all stakeholders.

The people behind Ideas Capital Management is a group of seasoned business builders and value creators. In their business career, they have built multiple businesses with over US$100 million in annual sales and have co-founded or co-build two unicorns in Indonesia. Their roles in these businesses can be founders, managers, partners or even controlling shareholders.

We are your non-conformists, your rebels with good cause and admirable intention. We are the rules breakers and disruptors to the traditional ways of doing businesses. We like to challenge bureaucracy; bust comfort zones and dislike status quo.
We like to be creative in creating solutions to tackle problems in businesses. We are your outside box thinkers and excellent executioners; having a track record in building several businesses over US$100m in sales and co-build several unicorns.
We aspire to build better and more sustainable businesses that can benefit environment, communities and its people. Finally, we believe in fair dealing and corporate governance in dealing with all parties involved.
Our Current Investment Strategy ESG Focus for Sustainable and Profitable Businesses.
In investments that we will made usually satisfy the following criteria:
- Businesses or industries that have high level of ROE and have high chance of sustainability.
- Businesses that can improve social well-being of the stakeholders involved; either employee, suppliers and communities.
- Businesses that do not pollute the environment, have net positive impact on environment or significantly reduce pollution on environment.
- Investments that could enable us to recoup all or majority of our investments if the investment thesis does not work out.
- We like to work with managers with strong experience; particularly from major corporations.
- We will work with our management in setting a strong corporate governance in our investments.
- We prefer well-known businesses with strong brand names.
- Our hurdle rate is 23% IRR or 9x return on our original investment.
Our Negative Investment List No Pollution, No Nicotine, No Gambling and No Alcohol
- We do not invest in environmentally pollutive businesses such as forestry and pulp and paper.
- We do not invest in coal and businesses that directly involved in fossil fuel extraction or virgin plastic manufacturing.
- No investment will be made in tobacco, nicotine related products such as e-cigarettes or marijuana related businesses.
- We do not invest in gambling or online betting.
- We do not invest in adult entertainment or pornography related businesses.
- We will not involve in investment in alcohol or distillery businesses, except those used for medical purpose.
- We do not invest in high yield digital finance or “Buy Now Pay Later” businesses as we view that the interest charged that could reach up to 50% – 70% to be a burden to consumers. We could; however, consider investing in lower loan yielding digital finance with strong financial profile that can create financial inclusion to middle low segment or rural population.
- From economic stand point, we will not invest in businesses that do not have economic viability.
